Continuing our backend discussion ... let's go over the homework.

I've created two PHP versions that accomplish the "count visitors" task; see the links on the backend/php page.

Should we spend more time on this? Or just continue with similar exercises but with SQL databases added?

I have SQL resources and notes on the resources page, including stuff from my algorithms course last semester. Depending on where the conversation takes us, we may start this stuff today.

Next week's assignment ... I'll decide once I see how this is going, but the idea is to (1) add in the SQL stuff to what we're doing and (2) do some stand-alone SQL exercises.

Then after the SQL we'll head towards Flask, a modern python backend framework.
