getting started

Welcome to the Plan Computing Projects course.

The purpose of this course is to give each of you the time and space to pursue your own advanced work. I was motivated to offer this by all the various requests for tutorials ... more than I could handle, and so instead I've set up this chance for you to get credit for working on your own project.

If you already have a project in mind, great. If not, your mission this week is to choose one. If you'd like ideas and/or suggestions, drop me a note and we can chat.

I've posted a first assignment where you an describe what you want to do this semester, including resources you plan on using, what deliverables you will produce, examples of similar work - in other words, planning.

I've set up a "your projects" link at the right with editable folders for each of you, one place where we can share work.

Please do check out the other links on this course website : the syllabus, the jupyter cloud platform, the slack channel, etc.

We'll also use github, so please set up an account there if you don't already have one, and let me know what that is in the first homework.

We'll meet each week on Tuesday as an entire class, and take turns sharing and discussing our work. I'll have more explicit assignments and guidelines about how that will work as we go along.

I'm available for 1-on-1 meetings at times by arrangment, as needed, by zoom or in person depending on schedules.

So - let's go around and hear what your interests are and what you're thinking about doing.
